Claire Liotta : Passion embroiderer

Claire Liotta

After studies of styling at the school of the " Employers' federation of Couture Parisienne ", she discovers the designer embroidery which will give her most creative possibilities. It is in the biggest embroidery workshops such as: Lesage, Vermont, Montex, that she  acquires a robust work experience made obligatorily and of requirement.

In 1998, she chooses to fend for herself to give free rein to her talent and to the generous orientation which livens up her: exercise her art but also pass on its know-how.

"For me, the tradition has sense only if it is accompanied by the passion of the craftsmen who pass on it ". Very fast the techniques of traditional embroidery are not any more enough. The bobbin lace, the macramé, the hook, the knitting will allow a bigger variety in the creation.

School of embroidery

Since 1998, Claire Liotta livens up training courses of traditional embroidery in his workshop. A public very diversified by any ages and by any horizons comes to follow his teaching. In 2004, she opens the school to the students avid to acquire a complete formation of the techniques which she uses. Here the embroidery is a receptacle opened to the creativity. Two years of study will be necessary.

First year the pupils learn the techniques of traditional embroidery but also, the bobbin lace, the macramé, the knitting and the braid. During the year, they realize samples and works which allow them to divert these techniques of their first use. Late in the year a model is realized in common.

Second year, the accent is put on the materials. Fabrics, pearls, glitter, ribbons, etc... This will be used as raw materials and not as finished products. They will be diverted and transformed. Products will be also used, such as resins, textile paintings, natural materials, etc… So many possibilities which will bring their stone to the building.
